PATCH 002: Tap in NFC Lab

Every person left knowing how NFC works, with stickers and keychain tags they programmed and automated themselves.

Philly, you tap to pay and tap to board every day. At PATCH 002, we showed you what is inside the tap.

Every single person in the room left with three things:

  • The know-how. What NFC is, where it already lives in the devices you carry, and where to buy tags of your own.
  • Their own tags. Programmable NFC stickers and keychain tags, both written with the NFC Tools app.
  • Automations. We walked through the Shortcuts app on iPhone, and its equivalent on Android, so one tap can set off an action on your phone.

The last part mattered most. People left able to do it again on their own, and able to teach someone else how.

Diego Mendoza-Ramos was the instructor, and he gave an amazing presentation.
